PEI Provincial Parks Policies
RESERVATIONS
Reservations can be made by calling our toll free number at 1-877-445-4938, online or in person.
In order to make a reservation you must be 19 years of age or older.
Each site will be permitted two tents or a combination of one tent and one trailer. Full Service (3 way) sites can not be occupied by tents only.
Each site can hold a maximum of 6 guests.
Camp Cabins hold a maximum of 4 guests and pets are not permitted inside the camp cabins.
Occupants of the site can have up to two vehicles (ie. motor vehicle, watercraft, hook-up trailers, etc.) provided there is enough room on the site. If not, a camper may be asked to move their vehicle to another designated area.
Transaction Fees for reservations is as follows:
- $6.00 per reservation
- $2.75 per reservation change
- $2.75 per reservation cancellation
Please note that reservations are made in real-time; you will need a credit card to complete the reservation and it will be charged in full before you receive confirmation of your reservation.
CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT
Check-in time for all Provincial Park campgrounds is 2:00 p.m.
Check-out time for all Provincial Park campgrounds is 11:00 a.m.
VISITORS
Any person wishing to enter a campground without a camping permit will be considered a visitor and must register with campground office.
Visitors must know the location of a registered camper as staff is not permitted to provide this information.
The registered camper may be held responsible for the actions of all visitors to their campsite.
All visitors must vacate the park by 10:00 p.m.
QUIET HOURS
Quiet hours will be enforced to provide campers with a pleasant, and secure, night time environment. Quiet hours will exist from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. During these hours, all excessive noise must be stopped.
No person in a provincial park shall disturb any other person by disorderly conduct, loud or unnecessary noise, or the use of obscene language.
Any loud noise, such as from the use of generators, loud radios, etc., that may disturb the peace is prohibited during quiet hours.
To further the quiet enjoyment of our provincial parks, all day use areas will close at 10:00 p.m.
CANCELLATION
A reservation may be cancelled 72 hours prior to the 2:00 p.m. check-in time on the arrival date and the entire reservation fee minus the transaction fees will be refunded.
If a cancellation is received with less than the 72 hour notification, the one night camping fee and transaction fees are retained by Provincial Parks.
No shows and no cancellation of a reservation will result in the park retaining the entire reservation and transaction fee.
Provincial Parks has a No Refunds Policy. Refunds will not be given to those who leave early for weather other than "Severe Weather Warnings."
CAMPFIRES/FIREWOOD
Campers may only light fires in designated fireplaces or fire pits, as permitted by Park Officer. Provincial Parks provides firewood at a fee fixed prior to season start.
RULES
Recreational Campfires for cooking or warming shall be permitted only if the requirements of NFPA 1 - Uniform Fire Code are met:
- be attended and supervised by a responsible person at all times
- be a minimum of 25 feet (7.6 metres) from combustibles in all directions (all around and overhead)
- not exceed 3 feet (0.9 metres) in diameter and 2 feet (0.6 metres) in height
- have a method of extinguishment on hand (hose, extinguisher or bucket(s) of water)
- be fully extinguished after use (before leaving or going to bed)
These Recreational Campfires are not permitted when the area Fire Weather Index is rated at "HIGH" or above.
Manufactured Appliances (chimineas, portable fire pits and propane fireplaces) may be used during a fire ban provided that the following conditions are met:
- follow the manufacturer's safety requirements:
- clearance to combustibles in all directions
- safe operating procedures
- installation of a spark arresting "screen" covering the appliance
- be attended and supervised by a responsible person at all times
- have a method of extinguishment on hand (hose, extinguisher or bucket(s) of water)
- be fully extinguished after use (before leaving or going to bed)
Fire Weather Index
The Fire Weather Index contains detailed information on current burning conditions in the Island's three fire regions and is updated regularly during fire season. www.princeedwardisland.ca/fwi
Fire Index Reports will be posted every afternoon around 3 pm at the Campground Office.
DOGS in PROVINCIAL PARKS
Dogs are welcome at all Provincial Park areas including campgrounds, day use park and beaches.
Bring the leash. Dogs must be kept on leashes no longer than 6 feet when outside their owners' vehicles or rental units.
Pets cannot be left unattended whether tethered outside the camper or inside a tent, trailer, RV or vehicle.
When tethered, your dog must not be able to wander through other campsites.
Dogs are not permitted in camp cabins.
As the owner of your pet, you are required to pick up after your dog.
Dogs will be asked to be removed if there is constant barking that is disturbing other campers.
Good behavior is required. Pet owners are fully responsible for their pets' actions.
ALCOHOL and CANNABIS CONSUMPTION within the Park
It is illegal to possess or consume alcohol and cannabis in any area within a provincial park not designated as a campsite. Alcohol and cannabis may only be consumed at a campsite or an overflow campsite.
Signage stating “Consumption of alcohol and Cannabis is permitted on campsites only” will be clearly visible at the entrance to the campground and/or day use areas.
If a Park Manager or Park Worker observes an individual(s) consuming alcohol or cannabis in a public area, they will be informed that this is not permitted and request that they return to a campsite or dispose of the alcohol/cannabis.
If the individual(s) does not cooperate, the Park Manager or Park Worker may issue a verbal or written warning or eviction.
If the Park Manager or Park Worker deems that the individual(s) may be a danger to the safety of themselves or others, then the Park Manager or Park Worker will call the RCMP for assistance.
